Access to Cellphones & the Internet
People have a right to access affordable cell/internet services and digital technologies. Internet, smartphones, and computers are often required for jobs, applications, communication, and access to information. Despite this, the technology isn't widely available and is expensive. Smartphones and computers are unaffordable and cell/internet service is unreliable in some areas, creating a "mobile divide". Without access to the necessary information, individuals also can't use technology properly to their advantage.
Local Example of Access to Internet
Some buses in Charleston County are providing wifi to help students without internet at home do their online schoolwork. According to the SC Department of Education around 150,000 households with school-aged kids in the state don't have reliable internet access.
